Ultrono Arena Ultrono Arena is an online multiplayer FPS written by the 20-year-old Princeton University math major Paul "czm" Nelson. It originally started as a school project, but was then named Ultrono, after one of its creator's aliases. There is no story, just a lot of frantic shooting.

As one of the all-time best competitive Quake III players, he designed the game to be a mixture of Quake and Quake III, but the way he liked to see it done. This is reflected in the fast movement with strafe jumping, circle strafing and wall jumping. There are three weapons available: the lightning gun, a railgun and a rocket launcher, with short reloading times. When you run out of ammo, you can still use your weapons, but only do a third of the regular damage. The player models are balls bouncing around the maps, and pick-ups such as ammo and armour have similar shapes, but with different colours.

The weapons have been designed after their Quake counterparts, and, aside from the new maps, some are remakes such as hub3aeroq3. The game has been written from scratch, but the sound effects have been lifted from Quake 3. The game uses editable config files and everything can be customized in-game using a console-like menu system. [source:mobygames]
