In PixelJunk Eden you control an arguably weird creature called a Grimp whose purpose is to expand the garden in which it lives upon. You start in an area from where you can access all the gardens that are unlocked. Only one is accessible at first but you can unlock more if certain conditions are met.

In each garden there are plants on which the Grimp can jump and grip on. The Grimp can also use a silk thread to spin clockwise/counter-clockwise for a short amount of time. Within the gardens there are floating creatures called "pollen prowlers" that when touched by the Grimp or the silk thread pollen is released. Pollen is needed to fill plant seeds that are scattered throughout parts of each garden and when they?re full with pollen a new plant instantly grows. That in turn allows to reach higher places of the garden and find things called "spectra" which is the main objective in each garden. The gameplay also features a device called "oscillator" which if goes out of tune the game ends. This is basically a time restriction the game has. The oscillator is depicted as a full bar which decreases at regular intervals. To fill this bar and as a result extend the time you have you must collect crystals that are scattered throughout the gardens or collect a spectra which fully fills the bar.

The game supports an up to 3-player cooperative play and features a leaderboard where you can view yours and other players? scores for each garden and an option to record your game. You may record up to 10 minutes at most and either upload the recorded video to YouTube (assuming you have an account) or store it on the HDD. [source:mobygames]
