Dark Disciples Your father Darrius was once a respected merchant at Middengrave...until he killed himself 3 days after your 14th birthday. With his death he also left a gambling debt of 100.000 gold he owed to the Merchant Lords of Middengrave...and an ultimatum of certain death if you are unable to fulfill that debt. Your quest is to reach Middengrave and plead your case to the evil Merchant Guild...there may yet be another way to settle your debt and family honor.

Dark Disciples is another (freeware) Rogue-like hybrid RPG game, similar in many aspects although in this RPG it does not really recognize any "classes" found in other RPG's. The class system however is replaced by an attribute system of 7 statistics that represent the "class" of the character. If one would prefer a "Warrior" role, the Strength stat would be increased compared to the "Dexterity" stat of a Thief or the "Intelligence" stat of a Mage.

The gameplay is fairly straight-forward, the character may interact with various NPC's which offer mini-quests, training, goods or other information related to your quest. There are also various approaches in handling a problem, although most are usually the Warrior-brute force approach or the Thief-skill approach. [source:mobygames]
