Game Classification

In Alexander: The Heroes Hour the player takes the role of three elite soldiers aligned to Alexander the Great: Megacles (brute force), Ekhedem (sword fighter) and Bilikidi (ranged weapons). They carry out orders from Alexander. The player controls these with the typical Diablo-type controls: Clicking with the mouse to move and attack, special abilities are reached through menus on the edge of the screen. Because there are three characters instead of one to control, the game includes a a pause function similar to Baldur's Gate where the player stops the time and gives orders.

For every killed foe and solved quest the characters receive experience points. These can be used to improve the character's combat skills and special abilities. Even though the gameplay is action oriented the quests have more varied goals than "kill them all". In the second playing mode named Arena the player faces hordes of monsters and receives trophies for defeating them. [source:mobygames]
