Game Classification

Spore Islands is a Facebook game that extends the core themes and mechanics of Spore into a persistent multiplayer game. Each player has a miniature island environment that they customize and control. Onto the islands are placed the player?s own customized species of creature, and the species created by the player?s friends.

Each environment becomes a unique ecosystem in which a mix of various creatures compete to survive and reproduce. Players earn points for the success of their creatures on every island in which they exist. The ongoing gameplay consists of players evolving their creatures by tweaking their attributes and behavior using a limited resource (which is replenished on a daily basis) called DNA.

Over time, every player?s island becomes a complex web of creatures that have evolved and adapted in response to each other and whose overlapping survival strategies produce dynamic behavior. [source:mobygames]
