Tōhō: Yumejikū Mysterious ruins were discovered in the vicinity of the Hakurei shrine in old Japan. Reimu Hakurei, the shrine maiden, wants to explore the ruins; to her astonishment, other young girls with supernatural powers are also interested in the ruins. Rumor has it that the heart of the ruins contains a source of unimaginable power. Reimu must now compete against the other girls in order to be the first to enter the core of the ruins.

The third entry in the T?h? series is, like the second, a vertically scrolling shooter. However, T?h?: Yumejik? can only be played as a versus game (split-screen, for two players or one player against computer). Choosing any of the five available playable girls, the player has to compete against another character, going through the same stages; the boss enemy of a stage is the actual other character.

Like in the previous game, each character has a limited amount of bombs to inflict massive damage on all enemies on screen. A new feature is a special attack, which is unique to each girl, including various powerful attacks such as a laser ray, revolving orbs that destroy enemies on their way, shots sent to different directions, etc. [source:mobygames]
