Nation red is a two-stick shooter comparable to older games like Smash TV where you control the character with the WASD keys (or the left analog stick when playing with a controller) and aim around with the mouse (or the right analog stick) from a top down view to kill an onslaught of enemies from all directions.
All of the action happens on a small enclosed area where you must survive several waves of enemy attacks by picking up power-ups and new weapons. Nation Red has a mission mode that has a set amount of enemies that you must kill in order to proceed, a survival mode where you must survive for as long as possible with only weapon drops, a barricade mode where you must defend a location and not let the enemies reach it, a free-play mode where you set the parameters yourself and aim for the high score.
The game features a wide selection of perks you can either choose from (when playing Strategic Mode), automatically receive (when playing Auto Mode) or are given a small randomly selected list of perks to choose (if playing Random Perk Mode). Enemies will drop a variety of weapons and health or armor power ups when killed as well.
You also have a selection of multiple characters, each with their own statistics that affect the gameplay (such as their preferred weapon or movement speed). [source:mobygames]
