Mortal Skies: Modern War Air Combat Shooter is a World War II-themed vertically scrolling shooter.
The player controls a combat aircraft which has to survive the assault of enemy planes, tanks, and a "boss" enemy at the end of each level. The shooting is handled automatically; the player's interaction is confined to moving the plane over the screen, avoiding enemy fire and collecting power-ups, which include reflective shields, gun upgrade, wingmen (two smaller planes appear and aid the player-controlled fighter for a short while), and others.
The player is awarded experience points for successfully destroying enemies. These can be spent between missions to increase the plane's speed, defense, or attack power. [source:mobygames]
