Maziac is a freeware game created using GameMaker 5 development package. The game casts the player as Samantha - the last of the light beings on a quest to re-seal the fallen Angel of Darkness inside a mountain. The game plays as a standard maze platformer, but with a slight gimmick. The light of the player's torch is both, a mean to see the surroundings as well as a weapon. Firing the weapon rapidly will deplete it, reducing the visibility, and allowing the enemies to spawn even closer. When fully charged, the torch can also be used for a single desperation blast which will shoot out a spray of homing sparks, but will render Samantha temporarily vulnerable, not to mention blind. Light Crystals scattered around the maze don't only affect the ending, but also increase the recharge speed of the torch. [source:mobygames]
