Gold Runner 2000 Gold Runner 2000 is an expanded clone of Lode Runner, adding both vertical and horizontal scrolling to the gameplay, as well as password warps to higher levels, and digitized sound effects and music samples. As in Lode Runner, your mission is to steal all of the gold bars, while avoiding the guards, and escape up to the next level after you have gotten them all. Guards can pick up to 1 Gold bar themselves, and the only way to get them back is to dig a self filling hole in the ground (on ground that you can actually dig in) early enough that it kills the guard. If you dig it to late, the guard will crawl out on his own (something you can not do if you get in the same situation). The game takes on strategy and maze play as well, as some of the gold bars are buried inside walls that you have to dig through to get to them. [source:mobygames]
