Galactic Civilizations II: Dark Avatar Dark Avatar is the expansion for the turn-based strategy game Galactic Civilizations II. Following the events of that game, most of the major civilizations of the galaxy have been weakened by the Dreadlords. The Drengin Empire takes this opportunity to resume it's war and conquer a majority of the civilizations. Within the Drengin Empire however is warrior Korath Clan. Throughout the war they have proven themselves mighty and been able to single-handedly turn victory from defeat. Using this newfound status, the Korath have risen within the Drengin Empire and now command more power than ever before. However the Korath are more bloodthirsty than even the normal Drengin soldier, and seek to destroy life on the civilizations they conquer rather than using them as slaves, disobeying direct orders from the ruling body in the process. The rest of the Empire is becoming suspicious of the Korath motives and instructs it's soldiers to keep an eye on the Korath ambitions...

In addition to the new campaign mentioned above, Dark Avatar contains many improvements to the gameplay and the structure of the game itself. Some of these include: the addition of the Krynn Consulate race, the Altaran Race has changed to "The Altaran Resistance", the ability to assign espionage agents to specific planets and buildings on those planets, special worlds (toxic, high gravity, barren, aquatic and radioactive) that require additional colonization methods, asteroid fields that can be mined, diplomatic treaties, the ability to create custom races for the computer AI, new computer AI options (including the ability to determine how much CPU power is used for AI decision making), and much more. There are also vast cosmetic changes as each race now has it's own "style" of ship design which is reflected in the components that can be chosen during ship building. This means that each race's vessels tend to look unique and no longer rely on a majority of "generic" parts that apply to one or more races. Each race also has been granted a specific "super power" making each race more unique while adding deeper strategy elements. [source:mobygames]
