Funny Faces Funny Faces' game concept is simple. You have a 8x8 big playfield, filled with different kind of balls and of course the funny faces. You job is now to select a group of at least 3 balls of the same kind, which then vanish and balls/faces from the top falling down, filling the gap. 3 balls of course is the minimum and therefore awards only a few points, but you can remove a dozen balls at once if you can.

So what's up with the funny faces? All those balls are static, you can remove them, but you can't change their positions (i.e. to create bigger groups). But that's what the funny faces (human, monkey, bull, and rabbit) can do. Click on one, and all adjacent balls and faces move one cycle counter-clockwise. If you get two funny faces of a kind together, you get a combo and many points. The more combos you get in a row, the more extra points you earn.

The game offers four game modes: Classic, Timed, Clear the Board, and Relax.

Relax is just like explained above. You have all the time you want to play as long as you want.

Time works like Relax, but you have only 2 minutes time to gain as much points as possible.

In Classic, you don't have this at-least-three-of-a-kind rule, so you can also remove single balls if you like. This game mode works level based. As soon as you earned a certain amount of points, you advance one level. The difficulty here is that you have to remove a certain amount of balls per group per level. In level one, the average amount of balls per group must be at least 1, in level 5 its 5, and so on (level 10 is max). As this is level based, you have a level meter, showing you progress. But you also have an overload meter, which is climbing too. When the overload meter reaches the end before the level progress meter reached it, its game over. To make sure it does not, simply remove the certain amounts of ball per group as stated.

Clear the Board works also without the 3-of-a-kind rule, but it is like the first two game modes without levels. You job here is to remove all balls from the board. Note that no new balls dropping in like in the other game modes. You also have only four funny faces, one of each kind. [source:mobygames]
