Exodus from the Earth The year is 2016 and it is suddenly discovered that Earth is in trouble. In less than 20 years, the sun will become a 'Red Giant,' burning up all life on our planet. A solution needs to be found, and fast.

Space exploration is stepped up, in an attempt to find a habitable planet with Earth-like conditions in another galaxy. Meanwhile, the A.X. Corporation, Earth's most powerful military and engineering power, claims to have developed a vaccine that will allow humans to live in hostile environments. It proposes to administer this vaccine to the entire population and then move them to a previously uninhabitable planet that it has discovered.

Suspicious of the A.X. Corporation and its sinister leader, Jack Crizby, Earth's Central Intelligence Agency dispatches an agent to investigate its claims, and also to investigate the disappearance of an astronaut who has just returned from space with news of a 'Second Earth.' If true, this news would ruin the Corporation's plans, and they are suspected of his disappearance.

You play the part of the undercover agent, Frank Rixon, a typical tough guy with a stock of one liners and an almost fetishistic love of firearms. His discrete 'investigation' quickly becomes an overt slaughter-fest that will take him through the halls of the A.X. Corporation, out onto the roads in a weapon-laden assault buggy and finally into space, to the mysterious 'A.X. Planet.'

Exodus from the Earth is a standard first-person-shooter, mixed with third-person driving sections. Your own arsenal features all the classics including a fire-axe, assault rifle, sniper rifle and rocket launcher. Most weapons have two firing modes, which does allow for some interesting variations. For instance, grenades can be thrown, or rolled along the floor and can also be remote detonated.

During the middle third of the game, you'll spend a lot of time in your armored patrol vehicle. This buggy has a roof-mounted Gatling gun and a protective energy shield that can be enabled for short times. You can enter or exit the vehicle at any time and you'll need to enter buildings and achieve various goals on your way to the spaceport.

Most of the time, you'll be fighting corporate security forces, but as the story goes on, you'll face off against more heavily armored opponents, with specific strategies for taking them down.

There are also multiplayer deathmatch and team deathmatch modes. Up to 10 players can join in, over LAN or Internet connections. [source:mobygames]
