Cargo! The Quest For Gravity This is not the earth we knew. Gravity has abandoned it. People, buildings, even entire continents have simply drifted away. What's left is an isolated archipelago - a small collection of islands governed by a three-headed mechanical 'god' and populated by small, round, idiotic creatures known as 'Buddies'.

Gravity is now the world's most precious resource and the few things that somehow retain it are highly sought after. Two surviving humans, trainee engineer Flawkes and Captain Borkin, are ferrying a load of weighted machine parts in their blimp when - disaster strikes. Shot down by an errant firework, the blimp crash lands and Flawkes finds herself stranded on the archipelago, surrounded by happy pink creatures and forced to deal with the machine masters.

The currency in this new world is 'FUN' - which has the ability to bring back gravity and which just happens to be produced by the Buddies when they're enjoying themselves. So begins Flawkes' mad quest to entertain the creatures, gather FUN, trade it to the rulers and buy parts to build vehicles. It's her only hope of escape.

As events progress, and Flawkes amasses FUN, she'll find more uses for it - She'll actually be able to bring objects back to earth. Perhaps she'll even find a way to return gravity for good.

Cargo is an open-world game of exploration and vehicle building. Entertain the buddies by giving them rides on your vehicles, kicking them in their large behinds or letting them dance to music. In exchange, you'll receive FUN - which you'll be able to spend in the shop screen, to buy vehicle parts.
In the build screen, construct cars, submarines, boats, planes and helicopters (or any hybrid of these). Starting with a basic cabin, add wheels, motors, propellers and anything else you can afford. The design is up to the player. Alternatively, gather blueprints from around the world and use them to build pre-designed vehicles.

When you have enough FUN, you'll be able to visit the stratosphere - where various buildings and objects are floating around. Using FUN, you can drop these objects to gather bonuses (additional buddies) or trigger key events.

The game progresses through four seasons, each with their effect on the world and their own missions. There are several minigames along the way.

In addition to the regular story mode, there's a sandbox mode. The player selects a season and can then build and explore as much as they like. [source:mobygames]
