Back to the Garden Dark cabaret star Jason Webley has "died", as he formerly would do annually at Hallowe'en, and his body lies uneasily beneath the dirt. The cycle of life turns on, however, and with the harvest season perhaps his mouldering bones will furnish sufficient fertiliser to yield a bumper crop of delicious veggies bounteous enough to paradoxically revive this legendary tomato enthusiast.

The game plays as two "match four" games in one; a garden playfield is randomly generated with a smattering of existing produce and a handful of weeds of one colour or another. The player has a supply of wonderful magical two-tone beans, with one colour for the germinated kernel and another for the outside husk. If a group of four seeds are clustered with the same outer colour, they will develop into the vegetable suggested by the kernel colour. Those vegetables are in turn gathered when they accumulate in rows or lines of four also.

Weeds contaminate seeds and veggies of the same colour planted adjacent to them, turning them also into unharvestable weeds.

Placing seeds strategically can simultaneously activate seeds and gather vegetables; such combo plays are the goal of the game, as doing so removes vegetables from a stack atop Webley's skull on the right side of the screen, diminishing the distance between his noggin and his iconic hat. Once enough vegetables have been removed, the cap meets the skull and it's showtime once again, the player unlocking a special desktop wallpaper. [source:mobygames]
