Virtual Skipper 5: 32nd America's Cup - The Game is the fifth main game in the Virtual Skipper series. It is however not identical to Virtual Skipper 5, which was released later, has a few changes, and uses a completely different subscription model. Despite the minor differences, owners of different versions cannot race against each other. It is however possible to upgrade to Virtual Skipper 5, but then the player has to sign up for a yearly subscription model to continue playing. Also, not all skins from 32nd America's Cup will show for players with VF5 as Nadeo's license for it is limited to this game.

Like its predecessors it is a sailing simulator in which you can race regattas on various locations located all over the world. This time the game is officially licensed for the 32nd edition of the America's Cup taking place in Valencia. The game comes with 14 different ocean courses: Valencia, Auckland, Rio, Marseille, Trapani and Malmö, San Francisco, Sydney, Porto Cervo, Vancouver, Isle of Wight, Quiberon and Qingdao.

There are four types of boats available to the player but the "Class America" takes priority in this iteration of the game. Game modes include arcade, tactical, simulation and "no rules". Included with the game are editors that allow you to create your own waterways. Online there's a world ranking system that keeps track of all internet games.

For multiplayer games an in-game peer-to-peer system is used, similar to the later TrackMania games, to share and show avatars, skins and boats with other players and to make sure they are visible to them. Online games can be played locally or online, there are replays that can be saved and the game includes an editor to design custom courses. [source:mobygames]
