The functions are divided into ten categories which can be accessed by the menus on the left and bottom of the screen. When something is going wrong the associated button glows red.

Bundesliga Manager X delivers all the aspects expected from such simulation. On the athletic side the player can set the training and the lineup. The game delivers five attack and defense tactics which are activated when certain conditions are met, when wished the player can create his own. The financial side is represented by selling and buying players, expansion of stadium and surroundings, merchandising and entry prices.

The match is shown in a real-time calculated presentation. One game lasts four minutes and during it the player can change tactics and substitute players. There are no licensed players but an editor to change the names.
